As Xpera Group celebrates its 11th anniversary, we have some exciting news to share. Xpera has been acquired by The Vertex Companies Inc. (VERTEX), an employee-owned AEC firm headquartered in Weymouth, MA with offices throughout North America.
As you may be aware, VERTEX is a global provider of forensic consulting, engineering design, construction, environmental and technology solutions. The acquisition of Xpera augments the firm’s West Coast presence and expands its service offerings in construction forensics, building envelope waterproofing consulting and residential third-party quality assurance services. Since its incorporation in 1995, the 500+ person company has maintained an annual growth rate of more than 20 percent.
The move represents an incredible opportunity for Xpera to offer a deeper bench of experts and a wider breadth of services to bring value to our clients.
Our entire senior leadership team will continue to manage Xpera’s operations from our San Diego office. Our people and client relationships remain in place and will continue to serve as the cornerstone of our business.
“The cultural fit, energy and compatibility of our two companies coming together will certainly enhance our ability to serve our clients, expand our services, provide greater growth potential for our people, and tap resources well beyond what would otherwise have been possible,” said Xpera Founder/ Chairman Ted Bumgardner. “By joining forces with VERTEX, we see an exciting future ahead, as the whole is truly greater than the sum of its parts.”
VERTEX was recently ranked by Zweig Group – for the fifth straight year – as one of the best companies to work for as well as one of the fastest growing firms in the AEC industry. Additionally, the company has been consistently recognized by ENR as a top construction, environmental and engineering design firm. VERTEX is also devoted to giving back to the communities it serves and has supported over 100 nonprofit organizations, particularly those devoted to elderly care, environmental issues, health conditions, emergency response, and family needs.
“The dynamics that have made Xpera so successful over the years – our personal relationships, deep industry expertise and commitment to service and value – remain intact,” said Xpera President Steve Grimes. “Under the VERTEX umbrella, our team will continue to bring the value our clients have come to rely on, while allowing us to expand the breadth of our services to meet additional client needs. We look forward to the many opportunities this partnership with VERTEX will bring to our employees, our clients and the AEC industry at large.”
“Prior to the acquisition, we had the opportunity to collaborate with Xpera on several forensic and construction matters, and it was clear that we were the perfect fit,” said Mark Degenaars, a managing director at Vertex. “Bottom line, Xpera’s team is highly skilled and their services add value to our clients.”
